Autumn in the Park
Autumn is a fascinating time in the park. The trees, like artists, paint the skyline with brilliant yellows, oranges, and reds. As the cool wind whistles through the branches, leaves begin their gentle journey to the ground.
A Tapestry of Leaves
Each leaf that falls creates a colorful tapestry on the park’s paths. Did you know that leaves change color because of something called chlorophyll? It’s what makes leaves green! But in autumn, when there is less sunlight, the chlorophyll breaks down, and the true colors of the leaves shine through.
Helpers of the Park
While the trees are busy showing off their colors, there are people who help take care of the park. One such helper is the leaf sweeper. With a long-handled rake, they gather the fallen leaves, making sure the paths are clear for everyone to walk. It’s an important job because too many leaves on the ground can make the paths slippery.
The leaf sweeper isn’t alone. There are also people who tend to the plants and keep the park clean. They might plant new flowers that can bloom in the cooler weather or put up bird feeders so our feathered friends can find food easily when the ground is covered with leaves.
The Park’s Autumn Orchestra
If you listen carefully, you’ll hear the autumn orchestra. The rustling leaves are like a tambourine, the birds chirping are the flutes, and the branches knocking together sound like the drum section.
The Great Leaf Mountain
In some parts of the park, the swept-up leaves create huge mountains. Children love to jump into them and hear the ‘crunch’ as the leaves compress under their feet. It’s like nature’s very own playground.
